Navigating the streets of Washington, DC

   Most of the streets and avenues are easy to find. There are also a lot of streets that do not conform to the original street layout plan. Basically, Washington is divided in quarters, Northwest (NW), Northeast (NE), Southwest (SW) and Southeast (SE). The center point is the capitol building.
   The streets dividing the quarters are named Capitol Street. There is a North, South, East and West Capitol Street. The Mall is the effective north-south dividing line.
